I recently experienced a joke like this, and it DID feel like a tool for numbing the heart of the speaker in a heightened emotional state. Thank you for that language, and for providing both a clear line of “not Ok” and also a path for compassion and empathy for the men who are numbing their own emotions because that’s what they’ve been taught to do.
